Another edition of Silva O\u2019Camp is behind us, and we truly hope you enjoyed it to the fullest and that it was an amazing ride! 10 training sessions, 3 races, 5,980 maps, 360 controls in the forest, 3.42 km\u00b2 of new maps, 324 jerseys, 300 pairs of socks, 14 nations, 4,480 meals, 1,200 litres of Kofola, and countless new experiences, friendships, and memories to take home with you. Thank you to all participants, coaches, organizers, and partners who were part of Silva O\u2019Camp 2026. PRE-CAMP Has Begun!<\/h3><\/div>

There are only three days left until the start of Silva Camp, but the first international participants have already arrived in the Czech Republic and are taking part in the PRE-CAMP program in Prague.
Over the next few days, they will complete three training sessions and enjoy a rich cultural program. In addition to sports activities, they will experience a boat cruise on the Vltava River and explore Prague’s historic Old Town.

After a final meeting with the owner of the Black Creek camp, it has been decided that Silva O’camp will be in Vidnava again in 2025. The capacity of the camp is lower than last year, but this will be partly compensated by the upper camp. We tried it partly last year and it worked great!

Like last year, we are planning a pre-Silva camp. It will be similar to last year, more information will be added to our website.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Silva O’Camp weekend update<\/h3><\/div>

We visited the camp this weekend. At first glance a ruined place, at second look optimistic thoughts thanks to dozens of volunteers working hard to rebuild the camp. We brought along Robert Binar, a member of our club and a respected project engineer, to help plan the restoration. Of course, the issue of next year’s camp was on the agenda and Roman from Camp Cerny Potok is very positive about it.

Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the fundraising campaign, with 54 days to go the camp has managed to raise over 700,000 CZK.

At least one piece of good news, the power of the river has created a beautiful beach with sand like in the Pacific behind the headquarters building… hopefully there will be a new relax zone with a swimming pool (not only) for the coaches <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Vidnava = Silva O’camp \"\u2764\ufe0f\"<\/a><\/h3><\/div>

We’ve been coming to Vidnava for 25 years, and during that time we’ve seen a lot. Vidnava has raised many world class athletes, but also hundreds of eager orienteers, we had our first loves here, but Vidnava also match couples who are still together, thousands of experiences, victories and defeats. Vidnava has always been there for us and now it needs us. After the damage caused by the floods in the lower camp, Roman the owner of the T\u00e1bor \u010cern\u00fd Potok<\/a> is trying to revive it like the phoenix rise from the ashes.

What exactly will the money be used for?

The money will be used to build new facilities for the camp.
Some of the money would also be used to clean up the site and other areas after the flooding. It would also be used to buy materials to repair or build new cabins, toilets, kitchen and canteen. Creation of a suitable flood protection measure (e.g. dike, concrete step,…) to protect the camp in the future, which could not be insured against flooding until now.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Floods<\/a><\/h3><\/div>

The floods of 2024 swept across the Czech Republic, leaving devastating damage in their wake, with the Jesen\u00edky Mountains and, unfortunately, Vidnava and its surroundings among the hardest hit areas. Pictures from the camp can hardly illustrate what the people in the area experienced. We only have a few reports from the camp so far, but we are constantly trying to get more updates. As soon as we know more, we will let you know through our news channels.

Another day of Pre Camp<\/h3><\/div>

This is the second day of our pilot project Pre Camp in Prague. All the teams are already on site and fully engaged in their first training sessions. After the first sprint in the area of Sinkule dormitory, a short middle followed in the Hv\u011bzda park. The third phase is currently in progress in the form of a photo orientation in Mala Strana. You can find the results of each training on the oresults.eu portal and some photos on our Facebook profile. We would like to thank our colleagues from Prague Adam Hajek, Adam Zavadil, Ka\u010dka Mi\u0161ekov\u00e1 and M\u00e1ra Pet\u0159ivalsk\u00fd for their help in organising the camp in Prague. Calm before the storm<\/h3><\/div>

At the weekend we went to inspect Vidnava camp. We checked the condition of the cabins, beds and maps. With a good conscience we can declare that everything is as it should be \ud83d\ude0a. The map was again a year out of date, but for that we called one of the best Czech and Moravian mapmakers – Zden\u011bk Rajno\u0161ek. He is currently revising the map above Habina, which suffered the biggest changes due to the bark beetle calamity.

Silva O\u00b4camp and bicycles<\/h3><\/div>

After a long hesitation, we decided to make a major change this year – we will use only rental bikes at this year’s camp. This change will bring great relief to parents who transport their children to the camp, and at the same time it will not cheat any participant, because we guarantee that everyone (except the little ones) will ride their bikes at least once per camp. We believe that this new feature will take our camp one step further.

Learnjoy Camp<\/h3><\/div>

he Chinese orienteers were between the first foreign runners who ever took part in Silva O\u00b4camp. They enjoyed to return to the Moravian forests and last time they trained in Vidnava in 2017. Amazing camp spirit and acquired know-how inspired the Chinese coaches to the idea of organizing a similar training camp at home. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 restrictions postponed the entire project, and the first event was held only this year.
The event for young orienteers, named Learnjoy camp, was held from 18 to 25 July 2022, that means on a similar date to the Czech Silva O\u00b4camp. The venue of the camp was the Yanqing resort in the mountainous suburbs of Beijing – centre of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The young orienteers trained mainly in the big parks, but they also got a chance to run in the forest terrain. Camp participants tried also night orienteering or increasingly popular knock-out sprint. There were also unusual activities such as a „communication“ orienteering run, where one of the pair navigated according to the map and the other ran in the terrain according to the instructions from the radio.
Similar to Silva O\u00b4camp, the Chinese Learnjoy camp also had a number of recreational activities on the program. Kids have visited the Winter Olympic Village, including the famous National Sliding Centre, also known as „The Flying Snow Dragon“. Remembering games on snow and ice in July\u00b4s hot weather was almost as refreshing as another their activity – kayaking.
Theory lessons with experienced lecturers, together with a lot of practice, significantly improved everyone\u00b4s map skills and physical condition. And that was more than useful during the final race in the challenging area of the Expo park.
In addition to the performance improvement itself, the Learnjoy camp also managed to provide that „extra something“ that makes the orienteering so special. A love for outdoor sport, new friendships and immense joy from every punched control \"\ud83d\ude42\"
Silva O’camp has supported the project of the orienteering camp in China from the very beginning and plans to cooperate in the future as well.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
